A Different Kind of Academic Support
I bring subject expertise in reading, writing, and the humanities to help students with specific assignments or courses.
Just as important, I also help students understand how they learn, where they get stuck, and how to approach challenges with more confidence and resilience.
The goal is not only stronger academic work, but a student’s ability to direct their own learning, adapt to new contexts, and pursue what matters to them with conviction.
That includes learning to use new technologies thoughtfully and responsibly, so tools strengthen their thinking rather than replace it.

About Me
Hi! My name is Lauren and I am an experienced educator with a passion for helping students discover how they learn best. With a PhD in English, I’ve dedicated my career to fostering confidence and a love of learning in students from diverse backgrounds. My approach is student-led and flexible, ensuring that each session is not only productive but also enjoyable. By using texts and materials that resonate with each student–including song lyrics, manga, and streaming series–I make learning accessible and fun.
Rates & Access
I believe that high-quality academic mentorship should be available to students who genuinely need it — not only to those who can easily afford it.

I offer sliding scale rates and work with families to find an arrangement that makes ongoing support sustainable. Rates are discussed openly during the free initial consultation, with no obligation to continue.

FAQs
What ages do you work with?
I work with students from approximately 6th grade through college.
Middle and high school students often seek support with reading, writing, and navigating academic expectations. College students typically work with me on analytical writing, thesis development, and long-form research projects.
Across age groups, the focus remains the same: strong thinking, clear communication, and increasing independence.
What subjects do you support?
I specialize in reading, writing, and the humanities, including literature, history, and interdisciplinary projects. Many sessions center on essays and analytical thinking, but the focus always extends beyond a single assignment.
Do you work with neurodivergent or twice-exceptional students?
Yes. Many of my students are bright, creative learners who may not thrive in conventional academic structures. Sessions are developmentally responsive and tailored to how each student learns best.
